Gallery warms up despite winter winds!
Ah winter… Time for ice fishing and snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing—or shopping!
Just because the temperatures dip below zero and the snow accumulates on the rooftops, don’t think that life in the north country screeches to a halt. While snowbirds escape to warmer climates, here at Ripple River Gallery we’re busy planning the exhibit and class schedule for the coming season and making room for new work that arrives weekly.
We’re also hard at work in our studios—new wood-turned bowls and vessels by resident artisan Bob Carls will be available soon, and cozy handwoven wool and mohair shawls by Amy Sharpe are available now.
If you need a break from outdoor adventure and an opportunity to feed your creative spirit, come and see what’s new! Printmaker Anna Marie Pavlik has new framed prints and, for a touch of the artistic in unexpected places, paper-covered switch plates that feature excerpts of her etchings and stratographs. Potter Gretchen Robinson has new textured trays—perfect for serving snacks or for keeping small items organized. Mixed media artist and painter Mike Marth just delivered new paintings and sculptures that feature a conglomeration of everyday items. Stop by to see the results of unbridled creativity and imagination!
If bargain hunting is your passion, join us for our “Mid-Winter Meltdown” for special discounts on a variety of work by regional artists. Basket and jewelry maker Tina Fung Holder is offering 10% off her wire and bead brooches and earrings; as well as 5% off her sculptural baskets made of native materials. Printmaker Candyce Fitzloff-Westfield is offering 25% off her etchings of fern leaves and natural artifacts. Boxed cards, including Sierra Club designs, are 25% off, and you’ll find special prices on many more items as well.
Ripple River Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and by chance or by appointment. The gallery is located five miles south of Deerwood on Highway 6, then 3 miles east of Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge on County Road 14 to Partridge Avenue; or south of Aitkin on Highway 169 to Bennettville, then 3.2 miles west on County Road 11 to Partridge Avenue.
